FAQ

When does the campaign start?

Now. The website where the pixels can be selected goes online on October 24th. On October 24th, Rotary International and its partners celebrate World Polio Day with the aim of raising awareness about the disease and collecting donations for the vaccination campaign to eradicate polio. Anyone who wants to be part of Pixel4Polio from the start and wants to be informed about the progress of the campaign can now click on “I want to take part” on this page.

When does the campaign end?

The art campaign will run for six months.

Is there a donation receipt?

Yes. A formal donation confirmation is required for the donation to be tax under German law deductible. We will be happy to send you this receipt. We will need your address for this. You can enter this under “Purpose” when making a bank transfer, for example. For donations up to an amount of 300 euros, a simplified process applies. This means that a bank statement or a transfer receipt is sufficient for German tax purposes. You only have to present the receipts for your donations, which you can enter in your tax return, if your tax office asks you to do so.

Is there a minimum number of pixels that I can donate?

Yes. Everyone who takes part in our campaign must select at least one pixel on our digital canvas – one euro is charged per pixel – and color it in a color of their choice.

Is there a maximum number of pixels that can be donated?

Yes. At the beginning, 2.3 million pixels are available. As the campaign progresses, as more and more donors take part, the number is reduced accordingly.

Can someone overwrite my pixels?

No. Once selected, pixels remain. After the donation has been successfully processed, the pixels cannot be overwritten. During processing, they are reserved for a period of around 30 minutes. The pixels only expire if payment is not made within the reservation time.

Are the donations attributed to our Rotary Club or our district?

Yes.

What exactly will the money be used for?

The donations will benefit Rotary International’s campaign to combat polio. The core of the campaign is vaccinations against the preventable, incurable disease.

Are there administrative costs?

No. The initiators of Pixel4Polio set up the campaign on a voluntary basis. No employees were paid for it, nor were any contracts awarded.

What happens to the image afterwards?

The finished image will be auctioned. The purchase price will also go to Rotary International’s anti-polio campaign.

How can I support the project – beyond the donation?

Through public relations. Make our project known in your networks. Share our website with friends or potential donors.

Can only Rotarians donate?

No. The campaign is also aimed at the general public.

How are the payment and processing costs calculated?

A transaction fee per donation and a percentage fee are charged for processing and payment. The more pixels are donated, the lower the share for transaction costs. The amount of the fees depends on the payment method.

What payment methods are offered?

PayPal, credit card, direct debit.

What are my data used for?

When you register, so that we can send you information about the start of the campaign and the progress of the campaign. If you have selected pixels, we need your data for the donation receipt.
